Description: The Hutt Valley aquifer zone in the Wellington Harbour seabed mapped forthe Proposed Natural Resources Plan.This zone has been updated from the delineation that appears in the Regional Coastal Plan for the Wellington Region 2000. The delineation of the zone was recommended by Earth in Mind scientist, Mark Gyopari in a report to Greater Wellington Regional Council on the hydrogeology of the Hutt Valley aquifer zone. It is further supported by information from a side-scan multibeam bathymetric survey undertaken by NIWA in a consortium with Department of Conservation and Greater Wellington Regional Council that reveals the presence of freshwater springs and seeps across the whole Wellington Harbour seabed.
