Description: Road closure locations in the event of a distant source tsunami. Specified in a MOU between WREMO, NZTA & TAs in Jan 2016. Closures be created THREE HOURS before the tsunami ‘first wave’ is expected to strike land in the Wellington area, or at a time identified by the ECC. Wellington is vulnerable to potentially severe local tsunamis with travel times less than one hour - self-evacuation of the public and staff members of participants to this MoU should be the only priority in such an event.NZTA, KCDC, PCC, HCC and WCC will collaborate on the potential production of signage and barrier types for use at detour points / road closures and on the creation of temporary traffic management plans. See GW doc http://ourspace.gw.govt.nz/ws/it/systems/GIS/16-01-11%20-%20Wellington%20area%20road%20tsunami%20evac%20MoU%20-%20FINAL.pdf for MoU. Supplied by R. Mowll for WELG mapping work. Captured from PDF maps as appendices to Distant Source Tsunami Road Evacuation Plan at GWRC, Sept 2017.
